NEVER NOT A COWBOY
The cowboy lifestyle has always beckoned to Ezekiel “Blue” Mitchell, from his early days reading about Ty Murray in elementary school to his more adventurous moments, like riding horses through the drive-thru with friends. However, his journey in the PBR has been anything but conventional.
Ezekiel developed an interest in bull riding at a tender age. Determined to learn, he constructed a barrel in his backyard and turned to YouTube for guidance, teaching himself the fundamentals. Once he had absorbed as much knowledge as he could online, he sought out mentors within the rodeo community. “It takes a village to raise anyone,” he says, “and the same holds true for bull riding.” With the assistance of kindred spirits, including his late cousin Ouncie, Zeke found the encouragement he needed to refine his skills. It was during this time that he also adopted his signature color and nickname, “Blue,” inspired by an old blue cowboy hat he wore to one of his early rodeo events. The moniker stuck, and soon Blue could be seen sporting a pair of matching chaps at all rodeo events.
For Blue, the cowboy lifestyle embodies more than just big belt buckles and fancy Stetsons. “It’s about integrity, loyalty. We take pride in everything we do.” Blue maintains close ties with his friends, mentors, family, and fans, inspiring them to remain true to themselves. He remains steadfast in his roots while forging his own path, striking a balance between traditional Western heritage and modern Texan ingenuity. In celebration of Blue’s unique approach to rodeo, we’ve transformed a pair of his iconic chaps into limited edition TX Whiskey caps.
